Gujarati Language
Gujarati is a language that is native to the Indian state of Gujarat and spoken by the Gujarati people who live in and around Gujarat. It is one of the 22 official languages of India, and it is also an official language in Pakistan. As of 2011, there were over 46 million speakers of Gujarati. It is written in a form of the Devanagari script that was first used for writing Sanskrit as early as 400 CE. It has been adapted for use with other Indic languages, and it is a member of the Indo-Aryan family, which includes Hindi, Marathi, Punjabi and Bengali. The Gujarati alphabet consists of 45 characters, 36 of which are consonants and 9 that are vowels.
