Inuktitut Language
Inuktitut is a language spoken in the Canadian Arctic and Greenland by the Inuit people. It is written in Latin letters, although some of the special characters used in Greenlandic Inuktitut, such as â and ä, are not present. The term "Inuktitut" is often used to refer to all Inuit languages, but it properly refers only to the Inuit language in Canada. The word "Inuktitut" means "in the true language," or "the real thing." There are two main dialects of Inuktitut, one spoken on the northern Labrador coast (also known as Baffin Island), and the other spoken south of that area around Hudson Bay. The dialects have slight differences in pronunciation and vocabulary.
